Doubtful. A cam lopes because of high valve overlap, which is usually found in cams designed for high-rpm operation.

That cam is still more aggressive than I'd recommend for what you're saying you want, though. If you want mileage and driveability, a cam that makes power from 1500-5000rpm would do you better. Not saying it's a bad cam; it would definitely give you a power boost, especially above 3k rpm, but you'd be sacrificing a little efficiency and low-rpm throttle response vs something with a little less duration.

The roller cam listed seems to be the best option from trick flow...doesnt look like they make one listed at 1500 RPM

what roller cam would you recommend for those heads (manufacture and specs)

Thanks

Why are you confining yourself to Trick Flow?

Call Comp Cams' tech support line. They'll need info on the motor and your plans for it, but they'll recommend something with much more accuracy than the 'tech' dweeb at Summit. At a glance, something like the XE264HR looks like it might do the trick.

XE264HR looks close to the trick flow has the same LSA but a few degrees less lift at .050

Ill call comp and ask em about it!

Thanks

The LSA is not the same. The Trick Flow cam has a 112* LSA, while the XE264HR has a 114* LSA (this is looking at their cam spec chart, not a vendor's page). That will move the power band down just a bit. Also, lift for both intake and exhaust is .512" w/1.6 rockers, as opposed to the .499/.510 int/exh for the Trick Flow cam.

Consider that Trick Flow only really has three roller cams they sell for SBF's. And I really doubt they grind them themselves. Real cam manufacturers have a whole slough of cams to fit multiple setups.

Comp, you can also call Lunati.

Here are the specs for my cam, street driver, TFS heads (61cc 170 cc intake runner), Stealth Intake, FPA headers, Holley HP650 double pumper from Bigs Carbs. You need to look at the entire package when selecting a cam, if the tech isn't asking the questions then you're not going to get what you want. Don't rule out a custom/semi custom cam http://www.flowtechinduction.com/fti...ord-austemper/

Starfury

the comp cam tech said the xe264hr would produce a bit more torque and better mileage but produce less mid range power than the trick flow. It seems with a LSA of 114 I would probably loose all lope and it would purr like a modern engine...unacceptable.

it would be nice to know what cam I had now.

I can only guess but I think its this cam
http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_...7122&submit=go

Ill look into lunati too!

Thanks

Im currently running a Lunati 61003 in my 289. It is pretty aggressive and sounds really mean. Has a lot power at high rpms. decent mid range torque as well.
