Default 4 spd toploader transmission

I removed the transmission from the car and am checking it out. I removed the cover and turned it upside down to drain oil. I found a spring and a part that looks to go on the the end of the spring. I cannot determine where these parts came from. This came out of a 1970 Mustang. I have not been able to see pictures clear enough to identify. Otherwise the transmission looks great. Any help?

sounds like you lost the vent spring. You will need to find good info on this if you care to take anything out of it. I haven't done one for quite some time now. Can't remember if I had found a book or what anymore. The one you want to talk to for parts or even some tips is David Key. I think that's all he does and he really knows his stuff. Not something you want to open unless you know what you're doing....Good luck.
