Default 69 Mustang Installing Headers around rack and pinion

Hello,
I have installed a flaming river Rack and Pinion in my 69 mustang. I also have the Flaming River Headers that are suppose to work around the steering. The Headers fit around the new R&P steering but it hits against the Transmission pan (I have an AOD transmission). I only need 1/2 inch towards the drivers side for the flange to move so that the header will bolt in to the Manifold??? Any ideas on if/how I can get my 1/2 inch. Flaming River told me I am out of luck, they only said it would work around the R&P their help stops there?
Has anyone had a similar situation? and or Solution?

Kelly

The headers are designed to fit a stock trans and the aod is a little wider,All i can tell you is have a good exhaust shop make the headers fit around the aod.

Bud, +1... for the muffler shop.
There ain't no magic fix for when we each choose to modify only to run into a roadblock. We've all run into this....now it's your turn. Sorry!
Good luck!

I installed the Flaming River R&P in my 67 also and went with the JBA shorty headers.

Do you know the muffler man? I have a feeling that you're about to.
