Smile 1967 Mustang T5 Transmission Swap

Hey so I have a 1967 289 mustang couple (i'm new to the mustang world, but this car is the &%*^), and I have been reading up about people switching in the T5 tranni from the later mustangs for increased performance. I just found a tranni and bell housing with only 30k miles on it near me for $400, and I was wondering if anyone that has done this switch has any ideas on what kind of performace enhancment I would get. My car is completely stock, and the engine is recently rebuilt. Anyone ever done this before and have 0-60 times and or 1/4 mile times?
Thanks so much

well i dont have any input on the 1/4 times, but for sure you will get better gas mileage, the overdrive 5th gear will allow you to cruise nicely on the freeway even if you put a lower gear ratio in the differential. also its much much more fun to drive in my opinion, its a night and day difference from the 3 speed auto. you ll get more out of your motor because your controlling the rpms

What trans do you have now? Assuming an automatic, you'lll gain an extra two gears for fun factor but won't really make your car faster. What diff ratio do you have? Usually changing the diff to a more 'performance enhancing' type, ie, a 2:80 to a 3:55 will be the better 'bang for the buck' for performance.

3.55 is pretty good but if you want power and it to take off faster a 3.73 or even a 4.11 will do.
