Go to rustbullet.com, buy a quart of automotive finish, and a bottle of metal prep. Scrape off as must rust as possible with wire wheel or brush, spray with metal prep, sit for 20 min, then rinse with hot water to neutralize the prep, repeat. use a roller to apply the paint. here's a pic of my floor in my 66. You may also need to take a good look at your cowl. That's allot of rust in your drivers floor pan, that water soaked carpet had to be coming from somewhere. BTW, rustbullet is awesome, the shipping is great, and the price is reasonable. IMHO, it's better then POR15.

Thanks!! I'm wondering how much moisture has come through the firewall where all the old grommets have rotted away..........not to mention the A/C lines that go to the underdash unit.......you can see the engine bay around those lines.

Okay........teach the idiot time. How do I go about checking the cowling?

Slowly pour water down the vent in front of the windshield and check for leaks, also make sure the drains are clear if at all possible. They are hidden under the fenders so it is not a simple check.

You can also reach your hand up under the drivers side dash and stick your hand in that air inlet hole and see if the "hat" is rotted.
