4.6 Transplant into a Classic Stang
Anybody here ever do this? I may have a line on a 03/04 cobra drive train, including the 6 speed trans.
This would provide several upgrades I have desired for years; fuel injection, overdrive, forced induction, reliability, more power, etc....

I've thought about doing this with my '65 Coupe. I think it would be a sick transplant. I think the modular motors are a bit wider than the Windsors so in a 65/66 you may have some clearance issues to tend to.
I just saw a thread on this the other day! I will try to find it and send it over your way!

evil eleanor on here has the lightning blown 5.4 in his fastback,It can be done just is a big job and can get pricey. The shock towers have to go so the front front suspension has to be changed. Most do a mustang 2 kit im not a big fan of them. There is a few more options but they are more money.Like http://www.griggsracing.com/ http://www.detroitspeed.com/1964-197...ustang-fs.html http://www.roadstershop.com/products...ang-suspension or if you got a fat wallet you can get a full frame http://schwartzperformance.com/1964-...is-full-frame/

I've researched this awhile ago, and if I remember correctly there are crossmember kits for this swap. But it holds true that the modular motors are VERY wide, only an inch thinner than a 429 if I remember correctly. I am not sure about the T56 swap though, sounds like a lot of custom fab, almost certainly some tranny tunnel mods, possibly firewall?
If you get the independent rear you're struck gold if you want to really top it off, people won't know what to do about ya then! Your ye' olde' stang will corner like it was never intended to. If you don't get it don't worry, they're pretty much identical to the ones in fox body thunderbirds. In fox body mustangs, it's supposedly as easy as drilling 4 holes to mount the rear and lining it up, can't see how it'd be much different in yours.
Even if you don't use it for your current car, there are so many options. Fox bodies with mod motor drivetrains are AWESOME. You could even separate them and spice up two projects at once. A T56/351w swapped fox is easy to build and insane on the highway.
I would use the motor and make the ultimate sleeper. Go buy a decent shape decommissioned police cruiser and swap it in. Do you know how many Tokyo drift ding dongs in their integras you'd absolutely sh*t on? In a damn cop car no less?! Ugh that would be a sight to see!
Either direction I wish you luck, not that you'd need it if you found the complete drivetrain :P
