So I did some desktop dyno 2000 runs and found the following unsurprising results.
A 408 will make about +10hp and +20 trq over a 377, all else being equal.
A 358 will make about the same hp and -15 trq vs. a 377, only tweak being a cam advance.
What is surprising is how little the difference is in hp between a 358 and 408. Of course the extra trq can be fun.
The 358 actually had the best volumetric efficiency, mid 90s.
