66 GT Fastback Restore

Sorry, wasn't meant to be offending. If you have the tools; welder, grinder, compressor and fundamental knowledge, bandages, and allot of patience, anything is possible. I would start by completely gutting the car of wiring and unnecessary cr@p cuz you gotta replace it anyway. Check for squareness to determine if its worth starting, and then start with a good subframe, then complete floor.

BTW, On a positive note I've never expected to have done as much sheet metal on my 66 as I've done, you do get better as you go. My first welds sucked, but as I progressed, you see your improvements. Good sheet metal is worth the money, you'll have less fitment issues, so budget for it. Some replacement sheet metal is junk, and not even worth using.

I agree! In the few pieces I have done I have noticed some quality issues with the imported stuff. The pictures are a little missleading-most of the missing floor appears to have been cut out to install the rectangular stock. I assume the plan was to make this a drag car and luckily never finished. The quarter panels and sub frame are original and relatively solid.
I do need verify I am square. Does anyone know what the tolerance is for squareness?

What an awesome project to be working on. My first car was a 66. I'm not an expert but I know a great guy that is good to go to as a resource. He has a shop out in Long Island. If you need any help he's a great guy. His website is http://andresauto.net
