Default adjustments and setting fast idle on autolite 1100

Hello,

I have a 66 200 6 cylinder with an autolite 1100

problem is the idle is just too high. Especially even after it is warm and the choke is off. My friend was saying the fast idle is not cutting off (should it?).

After I drive it say 15 minutes and then I put it in park (it is an automatic) it will rev very high, way too high).

I know how to adjust the fuel air mixture and the idle screw on the driver's side but I don't know how to adjust the fast idle. And how do I check and see that it is off?

Super Duper simple. After you are done adjusting the air fuel mixture there is an idle screw on the back of the carb where the choke cable comes in. Once you have it idling correctly, readjust eh air-fuel if the rpm's changed drastically. Rinse wash repeat. Eventually you will have the air-fuel where you like it and the idle correct.

You might also check the throttle return spring to be sure it is intact and tensioned correctly. Probably not the problem, but something to look at.
