Default Holley red pump burned motor

My electric fuel pump went out recently so i opened it up thinking maybe the veins had crap in them since it hasnt been run in about a year. I found out the problem, did i wire it up wrong maybe? It only has power and ground, im not sure what happened. It seems like i go through these pumps too fast, im going to buy a new one but id like this one to last a bit longer
