Newer 302 heads on 71 302

I would look for a pair of 75 (D5OE) heads. They will work fine and give you 58 c.c. chambers. They have hardened exhaust seats, also. The $400.00 cost to fix yours seems reasonable, and you will most likely have some expenditure on whatever you choose just to have them checked out - vatting, magnaflux, valve job, guides, etc.

i wouldnt get any 1975 heads....
go to a junkyard and get a set of GT40 heads from a 1996-1997 Ford Explorer they are the same heads the 5.0 Cobra's and 1st Generation Lightning used
They have a little larger compression ratio but you can have the head shaved to bump the compression
Heads have these marks on the end(3 slashes are GT40 heads and GT40p have 4 slashes you do not want GT40p because they require a special header) and it will say GT on the head under the valve cover
