Default Headers

I have a 1967 Mustang with a late 1980's 302. Does it matter what year I buy headers for?

assuming your 80's 302 has factory heads, you should simply get a header for a 67 mustang with a 289 and 302 (and other options) designed for stock port locations/bolt patterns. ignore the fact your engine was built in the 80's.

I agree with Buckeye, I just dropped an '87 302 in my '65 and purchased the headers for a '65 and they fit like a glove.

And spend some money for good headers the cheap ones will warp and leak over time.Take a look at http://www.jbaheaders.com/feature_pa...mustangnew.asp

Thanks! I have an exhaust leak at the driver side manifold and it's driving me crazy. Figured I would just go ahead and get the exhaust system redone with headers and new mufflers. Any suggestions on a good sounding muffler? Something not too loud, for everyday driving?

Fwiw I got a set of stainless tri-y headers on eBay and they rock, all for about $170 shipped. They can't chip or rust and they fit perfect for me...ymmv.

Link to pics.

We have the Tri Y's on the sons stock 289 with flow masters, really sounds nice, cam is a little more aggressive than stock, always gets compliments.....Plus pretty easy to install.
