The Versailles and Monarch rear ends mentioned will have rear disk brakes, which I don't care much for, either. The Granada and Fairmont, however, will have rear drum brakes on their 9" axles. As for gear ratios, that is more easily changed than modifying an 8.8 rear axle.

Yeah, but the gear change alone can cost twice as much as an 8.8. Not to mention I have not found Grenada/Fairmount rear end in a junkyard since I was skinny (And thats been a while)

Around here a 8.8 rear can be around $150 with the good gears etc..

FWIW I just had a 8" third member built with my gear of choice, it was a bit more $$ than the 8.8 swap, but a bit cheaper than the proper 9". A 65 car needs the narrow rear end with the ends necked down and the small bearings to look correct, and those are not common in 9" and cost even more to build.

+ 1 there is a guy on ebay that I have bought 2 center sections off now for 8" no problems. Little pricey though but includes stronger interals up to 550 hp, trac-loc and gears of choice.

Thanks guys. I'm going to check out upgrading my 8" i think. Sounds like less hassle and a trouble free way to go. I finally purchased a T5 and and now just need to find pedals then I can swap it all.

FYI, you only need the clutch pedal because the rest of the items are the same. You will need to cut the brake pedal pad area down, but thats no biggie.
