Question Shifter Rod Linkage?

O.k. so i rebuilt my shifter assembly and while in the car and shifting the automatic I noticed that it's not moving the shifter rod linkage and changing the gear. So my wife got the the mustang and was moving the shifter while I was under and I confirmed the linkage was not moving.

I am guessing that the nut holding the autoshifter lever to the linkage isn't tight enough. could this be?
