Default 65 steering wheel shake

im working on a fully restored 65 convertible 289 4 speed car. during the resto it was upgraded to disc brakes, heavy 1 inch lowering springs. in a nutshell it was equipped as a shelby. my issue is a steering wheel wobble side to side at about 45-50 mph. wheels are balanced and true all the suspension and steering pieces are new. the alignment is 3 degrees caster 0 degrees camber and 1/4 inch toe. its got kyb shocks along with the heavy springs so it rides like a tank which of course expected when going for performance handling. any ideas out there for something im overlooking?

What type of rims do you have? Are they two piece (flip them over to see if there are weld plates and marks joining the "spokes" to the outter rim) or one piece? If you bought a set of cheap rims or "Supreme" wheels they may be warped or just not that straight. I went with some relatively cheap rims off of Summit and my wheels would vibrate from 50-60 and then my ride got smooth into the 70-80s.

Also, when I put my disc brakes on there was some excess metal near the studs that caused my wheel to seat straight, I had to pull the wheels off and grind it down a little bit. It caused the same symptoms that you're describing.

It's taken me over five years (and over 40k miles) to work the kinks out of my tubular suspension kit, between bad wheels, disc plates and other stuff I have finally gotten my car to drive vibration free.
