Question Dash pad change on '65

Been having a small problem with geting a new dash pad to fit on a '65. When I bought the car a few months back, it had a new dash pad already "installed" minus the trim pieces and mounting screws. Basically just pushed over the steel dash. I ordered all the mounting trim, screws, etc. but then discovered that the holes in the pad and dash won't line up on the bottom. Lacks about 1/4 inch or so. I then also noticed that the pad is actually for a '66 model, and don't know if this makes a difference. There is also a couple screws embedded in the front bottom of the pad that appear to have nothing on the metal part of the dash to attach to.

Any ideas...??

No ideas for you, but I have heard one needs to buy the Ford tooling pad. I had a repro pad in my coupe when I bought it and it fit similar the one you have.
