Default Rebuilding 289: which heads?

I'm rebuilding my 289 engine out of my 66 coup. I live in the Netherlands, rebuilding the old heads are costly here. Asked a couple of machine shops, but the overall price for a pair of cast iron heads is €800. At that price, i would rather spent a little extra for a pair of aluminium heads. As for the engine, it's currently being bored .040 and i need new pistons as well. Which ones, depends on which heads i'm going to buy.

I'm not looking to built a power house on wheels, this car is my daily driver and i want a little more that stock. I was able to pick up a used Edelbrock Performer and a Holley 4v carburator. I also got a new oil pump, timing gear ( double roller) and a Edelbrock Performer camshaft (EDL-2122)

After looking around a bit, i have 3 options sofar:

1: @ €600 Pair of rebuilt 351W heads cast C0oe, including ARP bolts to fit a 289/302

2: @ €980 a pair of Aluminium heads, brand TriState ( floo tek?) 1.90"/1.50" valves and 58cc chamber. Are these heads good enough for a daily driver to replace the old worn cast irons?

3: @ €1400 a pair of Aluminium heads, brand Procomp. 60cc or 64 cc chamber 2.022"/1.60" valves. Part number SM3045LVJ. Port and chambers CNC finished.

Buying a pair of Edelbrock or AFR heads would be better, but due to bugdet they are out of my league for now.

What do you guys think would be best?

I have heard a few guys say those cheaper flo-tek heads are not really that bad anymore, and since you are also doing pistons you can match things up for the proper compression ratio, thats my issue with getting new heads without a piston change...the chambers are all kinda big for a 289.

You get what you pay for when it comes to engine parts.

i would go with TFS or AFR.. when it comes to heads you get what you pay for as stated above. I love my trick flow heads. man they make the difference.

I have Edelbrock heads and think they are great. I also hear nothing but good things about AFR.

Thanks for the replies sofar. After going through my options, pros, cons, i'm going for the rebuild 351 heads. I too am not a big fan of cheap stuff unless it has been proven to be good. And sofar, i can't find any good reviews on those last 2 items.

I'm going to read into the whole Alu head stuff for my 351W built. Besides my 66 daily driver, i'm also restoring a 1969 Mach 1. The engine i bought for that car came with all the hardware ( Studs, roller rockers etc) to put Alu heads on it. Deffo going for a good set from AFR or TrickFlow for that one. Gives me more time to save some $.

You can always save up and put better head on later, even wit the engine in the car.

I beleive Daze had bought the flo tek heads from speedway and found them to be pretty nice for the money. I beleive they are only around 650 a pair. Not as much power as AFR's or EDDy's but a considerable improvement over stock.
