So I am just about finished tearing down a 302 motor I bought on craigslist and saw this on top of the block by the front of the motor. Is this hole supposed to be here or not? Doesn't look like a stock hole but doesn't look like a rust hole either. Please help!

Heheh....I said the same thing when I tore mine down. Doesn't look like it should be there, but it's fine.

My 289 has the same hole in it. Nothing to worry about.

It looks cleaner on later 302's. It's for oil drainage.
