Cylinder Honing

Cylinder Honing
Hi, so I am working on my 302 motor for my 65 mustang. I noticed that I have a small ridge on the top of the cylinder and was wondering how to get rid of it if it needs to be. I am new to this engine rebuilding and heard I can do a cylinder honing to clean up the cylinder but I don't think that would get rid of the ridge.
The motor is already bored .040 over and not sure if reboring it even larger would be a good or bad thing.
Thoughts?

If it's shallow enough. But if you have to take more than like .001-.0015 out to clean it up, then bore it and replace the pistons. Or you can just deal with compression leakdown if you just need to get it running.

Generally .030 or .040 is considered safe max, at .060 because of core shift parts of the wall may be too thin. The tolerances on older block manufacturing weren't as good was what's available today.
