Shocks or struts?

Shocks or struts?
This may be a totally lame question and I could probably look it up myself, but I was near the puter and not the car and was wondering if you guys knew what came on the front end of a 1972, shocks or struts? I am almost positive that the horrible squeaking noise in my front end is the shock (or strut) that bolts to a stabilizer ? bar under the hood. The one on the driver's side is good, the one of the left--it's rubber bushing is busted. And another "female" question, how hard are they to replace?
Any help would be appreciated....

RE: Shocks or struts?
You have shocks on it. They are easy to change. My suggestion, if you are going to replace them, is to buy the KYB gas adjust shocks. Also, make sure all your grease zerks are greased. The squeaking may be coming from the upper control arm that is dry, or the spring perch. On the side, here is some info about how to adjust your Motorcraft 2100 carburetor if you are still having that hesitation problem.
