DID I JUST BUY A COBRA JET ENGINE
#12
Man, it's always cool when you find little treaures like that up some holler somewhere! You mentioned changing the tranny and rearend. With that engine, once you rebuild it, it's going to have some good torque. I know a bunch of folks like those T-5s,etc. but if it was me....I'd drop in a good Toploader 4-speed and a Ford 9" rearend with about a 3.50 gear ratio. You'll be barking the tires when you shift, for sure! If you go with a Toploader, check out David Kee's website for a complete listing of casting numbers and what they mean, so you know upfront exactly what you're looking at before you buy.

yeah I will look at that web site I found a 9" in Atlanta for $225 but not sure the specs I need said it was a 54" one but just don't know would like to just bolt it right up to the fram and not have to weld.

They made 351C Cobra engines in 1972-1973. These were the 4 barrel Clevelands from those years. They just happened to call the 351 H.O engines a Cobra Jet. Gave it the nice Cobra covers so to answer the question ya its a baby cobra.
If you find the heads to be bad I have some of them 1973 date stamped.
