Default 12V and pertronix

When i bought my mustang it already had Pertronix. However reading some of the post I decided to make sure the wiring was right. It appears it was ran to the firewall then spliced in there. So looking at the post it appears I might not be getting 12V. I didnt have alot of time so I took my volt meter and checked the voltage at the coil because the coil's + is comming from the distributer. It is a flame Thrower. With the switch in run but not started and it read 11V. With the car started it read 4V. So my questions are: Is that low of a reading normal at the Coil. If I wasnt getting the full 12V how bad would it run. (It runs good)

Well I just thought it might run stronger if it wasnt getting the full 12V. It isnt like I am racing it or anything but I want her top notch either way.

When I first installed mine, I got it wrong and the result sounded like a helicoptor or a prop airplane rotor at the exhaust. Trust me, you would be able to tell.

Yeah, you have to hook up that positive wire to ignition positive.
