What a shame

RE: What a shame
Well, I thought you guys were being awfully snooty.
Seems there are always conflicts between purists and restomoders.
Same thing with Some of the other makes I've played with, like Vettes.
Did a quick, very quick look, and figured you were just huffin and puffin as purists are wont to do.
Then I actually read your comments and went back and looked at the car. All the pix this
time, not just the Main pix.
Wow.
You guys nailed it.
Rice-a-roni.
And a bit on the "scam" side too.
The flex tube exhaust is pretty much guaranteed to corrode out in short order.
Upon looking at the thing a bit closer, ALL of your comments are valid.
I wish I had had your collective advice when I bought my stang.

Where is the rear valance with the holes in it for the trumpet tips?

He was apparently going for a Shelby clone, and Shelbys don't have the cut-outs and trumpet tips. '65s are side exits (in front of rear tires) and '66s are simple turn-downs out back. But both use the standard Mustang rear valance.

RE: What a shame
I'm with you all that say this car is totally bogus. it's okay to make the car fit your needs and skip concours stuff to fit your budget and real-life use (cruising, not showing). But if you make a clone, make it right. As you all said...no bumper, cheap exhaust decision, sun roof is stupid as are seats. But best of all is the lame ad copy about how it's not perfect but really cool. Not.

RE: What a shame
Here is a fine example. I saw this reproduction on e-bay last night and fell deeply in love. They call it a 65 Shelby clone. I just wish I had $30,000 to buy it No front bumper on this one either. I love the R valance. Although this is not a correct replica of a 65 it is sweet. This one has the side windows as the 66 did. It also had the tach and clock mounted on the steering wheel instead of the dash pod. I guess the very early 66's had this exhaust if I am not mistaken then they went to the rear when they discontinued the side outlet. I had the same valance on my 65 fastback along with the GT350 fiberglass hood. I miss my 65[sm=boohoo.gif]

RE: What a shame
actually not every 66, or even 65 mustangs came only with turn down exhaust. And to add, not one shelby left the factory with trumpet exhaust, only 1965 thru 1966 mustangs with the GT package did. The trundown exhaust also came in dual to single exhaust form, as well as true dual.
