Default 1969 Ford 500 with a origianal 429 4 barrel.

I found a 69 Ford 500 that is supposed to be a all numbers matching car and it has a 429 4 barrel in running condition. I think this was the same year as the 429 boss motor in the mustang. I was just wondering if anyone could give me some insight on this motor and possibly the value of the motor/heads only.

Cool car especially if it's a 2 door, and yes 69 is the first year of the Boss 429 but the 385 429 and the boss 429 are completely different animals.

A good site for BBF info is Here.

I could be mistaken but I don't believe the 429 was available in the Fairlane until 1970. The top engine choice in 69 was a 428. Can you post the VIN and door tag info?

The guy told me it is a Ford XL 500 Fastback with a factory 4 barrel 429 and AC. It also has a factory hood scoop. hide away headlights. It is supposed to be in running condition. I will try to get the VIN.

Man I decoded the VIN on 3 sites. 2 sites said it is a 69 XL 4 Door fastback hardtop, one site says it is an XL 2 Door fast Back hardtop. I was thinking maybe a VIN tag swap. But maybe not. I cannot decode the ID tag info. that may be helpful if anyone can help with that. They did come with a 360 HP 429 4 barrel in 1969. 10.5;1 compression heads.

Yes then the Thunderjet would indeed be original.

It will be difficult to run on today's pump gas without pinging.
