Exclamation the 67 mystery of the electricity~

okay i have a 67 mustang with a newer 302 and t5 swap, recently the car randomly died on me and will not start from the key.

bump starting works so i know all connection from solenoid to starter are okay.

turns off at key.

thought it was the ignition switch after seeing as how i was getting 0 volts from ignition side of solenoid (brown wire left side) so i replaced the switch to no avail.

at this point the problem is somewhere in between the solenoid and ignition switch.

my questions are could a wall mounted resistor have gone out? could this be a grounding issue? or the one my moneys on a short.

The car is over 45 years old....and so is the wiring. The insulation prolly got crispy and cracked and the wire broke or is shorted to ground. Trace the wiring back from the ignition switch and see if you can find a break, and go from there.

You should see 12 volts on the s side of the sol., not the i side. I'm a bit lost here....does this motor crank? Are you not getting it to fire?

You mention you can bump start the motor. That would make me look at the neutral safety switch. Not sure if you included that in the t5 swap. The switch can be bad or misaligned shutting down the ignition switch.

Going with the assumption that the engine is not cranking (please correct if it is cranking but not lightin' off)

First question is:
Did the T5 install include a nuetral safety switch install? If no go to 2. If yes inspect it for proper operation.

second question is:

If no NSS, then check for a jumper on the firewall behind where the accelerator linkage comes up. if the plug is open or jumper fell out that's the problem - this plug is in between the ign switch and the brown wire to the starter relay (SR) on the fender.

If all wiring looks correct - ohm it from the Ign switch to the S term of the SR this isould isolate any opens or shorts. (there is no resistor in this circuit BTW)
