check the floors for repairs and rust, stick a magnet all over the lower parts of the body, make sure it does not smoke, runs and shifts good, has no rust bubbles in the paint, does not have a salvage title, has current tags or a non op. if it passes all these tests, buy it. it is a 6k car. he might take 4k or 4.2 k.
