Default Mustang 1966 Water Heater Valve (buy?)

Hi everybody,

Guys, I am stuck with the purchase of the water heater valve for a mustang 1966 V-8. Autozone, Oreillys, Advance, Pony, MustangLimited, JohnsMustang, no one seems to have them on stock. Please any advice?

Thanks,

Andy

I could be wrong, but I don't think the '65 & '66 have a heater hose valve.

Made my own similar to this.

Agreed. There is none available because your car didn't have one to begin with. You could theoretically install one, but since it's not hooked up to your heater lever, you'd need a manual version (like above), and you'd have to open the hood to open and close it. I don't see much of a reason to do it.

Depends where you live.

In the Deep South, we're out for every degree of cabin cooling we can get. Removing any chance of heat coming in from the heater core does help.

*shrug* I live in an area that sees 100-115F heat in the summer, and I don't see it as an issue. If you have heat leakage from the heater core, you more than likely need to reseal your heater box.

use a mopar, chrysler, 5/8" input/output, heater control valve, somewhere around 1967-77. You can use a choke cable type to operate it inside the car or manually set it open/close. Got one sitting on my work bench. Any good autoparts store carries them. Be sure to put in on the input side of the core.
