best headers

I have tri y's on my built 306. Forged bottom end ported edelbrock heads street avenger 670 etc etc. transmission is a built also, full reverse valve body higher stall torque converter. I like the tri y's don't have any leaks, I sent them out to get coated when I built the motor. 330hp 340tq

Just picked up a 69 and had some wiring and starting issues. got them all fixed up and had to put in a new starter. WOW that was a pain! headers and sway bar had it blocked in something fierce! Anyways the headers on the car are older and sounds like they leak a bit at the gaskets and they are long tubes and have a few flat spots on the bottoms from pot holes. so I want to replace them. what headers will give me the best clearence to work on car as far as starter plugs and stuff. and what kind of performance difference am I looking at between long tubes shortys etc??? engine is a built 302.

I'm with 1966fastbach...FPA headers are da bomb!!! They'll make note of your size motor, heads in use and year stang then build you a set of headers that are beautiful and fit perfect!! I have a 68 FB with a 351W (bored/stroked to 427ci) with Dart Pro1 heads. That's an almost impossible combination to find headers for. FPA took my exhaust port size, port shape and built me a big tube stepped design that fits flawlessly!!! No clearance issues what so ever!

Sorry bout the earlier rant...I'm certainly NOT a fan of Doug's!! If I want to give away a grip of cash AND get treated like crap I'll just get divorced!
The fitment of the FPA's is unreal! My Canton oil pan hangs lower then these pipes. I put a heat blanket around my starter for insurance but I don't think I really need it. Tried to upload a pic but it wouldn't take for some reason.
Anyway...I'd have to go thru my receipts for the exact price. They were a lil more then mass produced pipes but it was def worth the price tag...I wanna say $600-$800 for pipes and ceramic coating. Pricey but keep in mind they are custom fab'd.
