Default Wheel Too Far Forward in Wheel Well

Greetings,

This questions is on my 66 ranchero not my 65 mustang but the chero shares the same front suspension setup as the 67 mustang and I wanted to get your thoughts.

I recently put 225/60/15 tires on my 15x7 TT's. After getting home and getting them installed I noticed the drivers side wheel sits forward the centerline of the wheel well and the tire will hit the fender lip when turned. The passenger side tire sits in the middle of the wheel well and is around 2.5' from the fender lip. The drivers side is only around 1.25" from the center. The fenders are spaced and installed correctly.

I recently replaced all the front suspension and steering components and also went with 71 mustang front spindles with disk brakes. I dont beleive I changed the entire UCA though, I beleive I just replaced the ball joints. I've tried adjusting the strut rod, but it doesnt seem to do much good. I've also put a shim behind the front bolt of the UCA to see if that helped.

Any guidance on what I should do? I cannot find any indication the car has been wrecked.

Could the UCA's need to be centered? Any ideas?

You don't have allot of options to look for, 1) your strut rods are not bolted down equally setting the LCA's the same, 2) your caster is too negative on the drivers side, and too positive on the passenger side, 3) your fender has been wrecked some time in the past and pushed back.

How did the tires sit before you made all the changes?

I've looked back through some pictures I took when I got the car. From what I are, it looks exactly the same as it does now. The only difference is the tires are now 225's instead of 195's.

Sounds to me like the car took a shot and is no longer square.

But that's just the wild *** guess of an internet expert visualizing it from behind my keyboard a thousand miles away.
