...like I said, buy the best shocks you can afford.

Sounds like we're all in agreement.

Maier has about 25-30 years into those shocks. His dad started diddling with them decades ago, and they've been refined ever since. And it's quite noticeable.

Bilstein has always made their shock operation free knowledge and offers a bazillion parts to mod them after market. They're probably one of the most frequently modified shocks out there because of that. All sorts of people make all sorts of custom valvings with them for all sorts of cars.

Maier is actually using a newer shock now too with their coil over kit. JRI I think? Done by a former top guy at Penske shocks (which are like the best shocks on the planet, but insanely expensive).

Koni were good years ago, but these days are actually pretty terrible. Most of them are not gas charged so under heavy use they generate tons of fade. I've read quite a few accounts saying that Konis tend to be all over the place on a shock dyno. It's really hard to get a set of 4 Konis that all function with the same damping, and many of the adjustables require radically different settings on each shock to balance them.

They're generally inconsistent and don't perform well under high cycling.
