3rd member making noise

I spoke with someone in a shop today and he said I have not driven it enough with the new additive to give it time to work so I will drive it around for the next week or so after work to see if the lube works into the clutches.

Hard to agree that you haven't driven the unit enough for the clutches to get coated with the friction modifier. Seven years, TWO bottles of friction modifier, and a number of figure "8's" is really overkill for a healthy limited slip unit to perform okay.

Still having issues. I put in the 2 additional friction modifiers a couple of weeks ago. I have driven several times over the last few weeks. It seems to be doing a little better but I am still having the wheels grab and pop when I make slow tight turns. I will continue to drive over this weekend and see if it gets better or breaks. Assuming it does not work out, I am considering replacing it with a 3.25 gear and a tru-loc or posi unit. I am not sure what the difference is, can anyone help and make recommendations. Thanks

A Ford Trak Loc (1969 or newer) limited slip unit is hard to beat. The Detroit Locker offerings can be noisy but are very good. Lots of "me too's" out there, but they mostly come up short against the two mentioned. Whatever you do, stay away from Ford's early equa loc limited slip unit (prior to 1969).
