Big Brakes 1970 Boss 302
Has anyone used the Classic Performance 13" front disc brake setup?

I'd appreciate any feedback on this system or perhaps another cost competitive performance brake system

2 things.
1) Cross drilled rotors are for looks, and in nearly all cases they compromise the braking or longevity of the system. They don't dissipate heat as well and are prone to thermal checking (developing small heat related cracks). Slotted are good, but the only cross drilled rotors that are actually useful are typically made from crazy ceramic based compounds or exotic alloys, are prohibitively expensive, and won't work on the street. If you want them for looks, fine, but if you want performance brakes....don't use them.
2) 13" brakes are ****ing HUGE...especially on a lightweight coupe like Classics. They're only needed in very powerful cars on road racing courses. The kits are far more expensive, and replacement parts are far more expensive, than is needed in anything not on an open road course. The local chassis shop here that I get brake stuff from, most of the cars they deal with are heavier, and the 600-800hp asphalt cars are only running 11.75 rotors (albeit with highly aggressive pad compounds).
I always recommend Wilwood; extremely reliable, robust and just plain work well. Also most of their kits are no frills functional setups, so they're affordable. They have a really nice 6 piston 12.19" rotor kit for the Classics that's not terribly expensive. And is likely all you'd ever need. If you really want a 13" range system, they have a 12.88 rotor kit as well, but it's stupid expensive, replacement rotors are also stupid expensive. They also offer drilled rotors for those who want the look, if you go that route then over brake the car (give it larger brakes then it needs) to ensure you have no heat problems.

That's their kits for 70 disc spindles, non Shelby.

Funny they don't provide a slotted only rotor option unless you use there 12.88

Plain rotors are fine, slotted are a bit better with certain pad compounds, helps to remove dust and material build up on the pad/rotor.
You could call them and ask exactly what the difference with the spindles is. Often the kits work on more than just the type they're listed as.

How much is that kit running? They look like the standard PBR calipers found on the 99-04 cobras.
Not sure about your wheel combo but I assume that you do realize you will need bigger rims
Never heard anyone complain about too big of a brake!
