1967-68 six speed possible w/o changing vehicle?
I've been searching this site and have talked to two different Tremec vendor/transmission shops, and am still not certain of the answer.
Is it possible to install a Tremec six speed (T-56) into a 1967-68 mustang WITHOUT permanently altering the trans tunnel/floorboards?
I have one in my 1967 from years ago, but we had to bend the tunnel to get it to fit. I am wondering if anybody smarter than me has come up with a mounting system which would allow this installation without changing/altering the structure of the car.
Thanks for any help!
Eric

HELLO;
I DON'T UNDERSTAND YOUR QUESTION. YOU HAD TO MODIFY YOUR TUNNEL BEFORE WHICH MEANS YOU STILL HAVE TO MODIFY YOUR TUNNEL.
YOUR ENGINE MUST STAY AT THE EXACT SAME ANGLE AS WITH THE STOCK TRANS. IF YOU LOWER IT MUCH YOUR DRIVELINE MIGHT VIBRATE.

Sorry I didn't explain myself well. Ten years ago I had to change the tunnel for the trans to fit. I was asking if since then, someone had come up with a mounting system (lower engine mounts?, adaptations to the transmission?) by which it could be made to fit without altering the car. But, based on your explanation, it doesn't sound like it is feasible to begin with. Thanks for your help.

I think there was someone here a while back who made it work on their '69/70 without beating up the tunnel. Combination of Ron Morris motor mounts and a drop crossmember for the trans. Barnett is kinda right, though; it could cause driveline issues unless you fix the pinion angle on the rear end to match.
