help.new engine and nothing lines up
balancer mounting surface for pully is 4-7/8". old 68 302 is under 4".allready bought a/c, p.s.,alt., brackets for 68 302. new timing cover is for 68 302. also would like pass. [right] side inlet for water pump if possable {except inlet will cover timing marks on right side of balancer}. how screwed am i ? what parts do i need ? please help

if you had pictures it would help allot in this type of scenario. There's many variables, you have 3 bolt harmonic balancers for early SBF, and 4 bolt balancers for later. You also have different long nose, short nose water pumps. I've been working on my 68 302, the stock set up is a three bolt 28 oz balancer.

crank is an eagle 0 balance w/a 4 bolt balancer. mounting surface for pully is 4-7/8" from block. i may have to buy all new mounting brackets for accesseries. what i need to know is what water pump [maybe left inlet], pullys, and do i need to change timing cover also. changing brackets is ok. ford makes alot of spacers for crank pully. did not think this would be so hard. asked summit for the rite parts-no help there.

At this point, I'd recommend picking up a new timing cover and water pump to match the accessories you already have. Changing just the water pump will likely result in the timing mark being obscured, making it impossible to time the motor.
From there, you can pick up proper pulleys to match the timing cover and water pump. No need for a March kit.
I also just noticed you mentioned a zero-balanced crank. Ford small block cranks are supposed to be externally balanced (28oz for early motors), which will match your balancer and flywheel/flexplate. If for some reason you actually do have an internally balanced crankshaft, it will tear itself apart if you don't have a matching zero-balance flywheel and balancer.
