That's really an open ended question. What do you mean by drag engine. How fast do you want to go? 12 second quarter mile? 11 sec? 10sec..........
And you will need a crap load more than heads unless your just talking a fun street car.
For a fun street car, heads, headers, cam, intake, carb, rear end gears, and front breaks to start with.

be prepared to spend money on a good transmission and tracloc with 3:70 or better gears. A motor is nice, but you need something to back it up if you want a balanced car. On second thought, do what I do, when you grenade your rear end, it'll give you an excuse to go with a Currie 9".

Like Monster Billy said.
I went the fun street car approach
I bolted on a 671 blower and 2 holly 750 double pumpers on top of my 302.
But the whole motor was rebuilt for it.
New heads 7:1 compression pistons , 9" rear end with 4:11 gears.
Auto trans w/ manual valve body
But that was 20 years ago.
I'm sure they make something a little less obnoxious nowadays .
I put discs on the front but I'm not real happy with them need them front and back and I'm sure they have made some serious advances in the last 20 years.

As stated above, first thing you should do is upgrade the brakes. Install front disc brakes and the master cylinder,
Next upgrade your rear end to either a 8.8 inch (MOST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK) or a 9 inch. and install at least 3.73:1 gears. Then I would do the UCA drop.
Take note that when you do the rear end, you will only be able to install a 245 tire. that is not very wide. you may want to do a mini tub on it. You will also want to do a 4.5 or 5 leaf spring, unless you put a 4 link on it. your also gonna want to install subframe connectors.
once the suspension and brakes are done, you can move onto the engine. at that point you can go one of several ways. but if you have the coin, I would do a 331 stroker with a turbo or blower. You could also go with just a 347 or a 363 stroker and no blower/turbo.
if you mini tub the car, you will need to build a strong *** trans. If you don't mini tub it, your trans isn't that important because like me, you will never get enough traction to hurt it.
