Default Help deciding on tires!

Hey everyone,
I have a '68 coupe that my dad and I have spent the last few years rebuilding and we are almost ready to get her going down the road. Last couple of final touches! I found a set of 15" Torque Thrust D's to go on it but the tires that came on the wheels are too big and need to be replaced anyways. They are 235/70/15. What tire size(s) have you used that fit well without needing to roll the fenders? I would like to try to keep as stock as possible. Also, did you find a company that had good deals on tires? I heard Tirerack.com was good. And what brand tires did you end up with? Thank you!

.
HOW WIDE ARE THE RIMS?

WHAT IS THE BACK SPACE?

IF YOU DON'T DRIVE HARD, HANKOOKS ARE A GOOD DEAL AND A GOOD TIRE.

are you sure those are 235 x 70 - 15"? . . if they are they are around 28" tall x 9.3" wide

here's a few tires i would look at.

205/70R15 = 26.3 x 8.1 - 15

215/65R15 = 26.0 x 8.5 - 15

.

I have 215 60 15 Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring. If they are available in the size your looking for, I'd recommend them. My wheels are 15x7.

I suggest the same size I have or possibly 225 60 15 since you have a 67-68.

Those do look kinda tall and are likely 70 series, but they don't look wide enough to be 235.

@tx65coupe and @barnett468

Thank you for the comments, yes I double checked they ARE 235/70/15. The wheels are 15X7. There is approximately a 4" backspace. Again thank you for the ideas.

I run Continental Extreme Contact DW tires. Best budget (ish) tires I've ever had, they are a very reasonable price for their capabilities. Don't know if they make them in your desired size though, they are a performance tire.

TTD wheels in 15x7 will be 3.75 backspaced.

Do you drive in cold weather, or only the summer or someplace it's warm year round? How much do you want to spend? Is noise and comfort more important, or treadlife, or performance?

If you drive when the temps are below about 45*F on a regular basis, you'll be better off with an all-season of some sort. Summer tires get hard and lose a lot of grip when it's cold. The high performance all-seasons give up some warm weather grip for much better cold weather grip and better performance in the rain (and sometimes light snow/ice), and usually longer treadlife.

The performance of the tire is also related to cost, to a degree.

The Continentals are good tires. Toyo also makes really good performance tires for handling, but a lot of them are not listed on TireRack (not sure if they can even get them honestly).
