Default MSD distributor

I just ordered an MSD Distributor for my car. I sheared the shear pin on the gear in the stock distributor. THe MSD shear pin is much beefier. I check the oil pump for sign of something that locked it up. I think it is the additional ponies. Who knows the distributor is 32 years old, althought the petronix was new 2 years ago.

Not again!

I hope you're talking about the Kissimmee incident!

Yeah just the kissamee incident. I wanted a new one with a better shear pin. I also figured out that the bearings and stuff were at least 32 years old, so it wouldn't hurt to at least replace the one I have.

That car is going to run great when you get that new distributor in!

Which one did you get? The points/vacuum, points/centrifigual, magnetic, etc

.

I actually bought the smaller diameter, electronic, with out the vacuum advance. I fifure that way I can use the timing that we set at the ower tour and I can advance it where I need to - the vacuum won't limit me. Plus I disabled the advance on the last one anyway.

The MSD distributor arrived today. Know I just have to decide on a timing curve and replace the one that is in the car....
