Ignition (electrical) help please!!!

OK guys, I'm more confused than ever. The violet/white wire coming from the ignition (smoked wire) goes through the firewall to the top of a distribution/portioning block for the brake lines? This ride doesn't even have disc brakes. It was wrapped the entire length in factory tape so I'm pretty sure it was shorted along the line any where so it had to be at one of the ends. Could this have shorted out in the switch itself? Is there ANY way this is related to the cut pink wire? I took the tape off so you could see where I cut it at.

That's your brake pressure differential warning switch. It kicks on the brake warning light on the dash if you have a pressure differential in the brake system, which would be caused by a fluid leak.
It shouldn't have anything to do with the pink resistor wire, but I'd still need a wiring diagram to trace things out. The switch could have shorted to ground internally, which you should be able to check with a multimeter. At this point, I'd be worried about everything else wrapped up in that harness. That melted wire could easily have burned through several other insulators as well.

Hi Tad, I have checked all the other wires & they all seem to be intact. I will check them all again most definitely. To be perfectly clear I want to remove everything involved with the pink wire correct? What do I with the brown wire to the solinode?

Starfury, thank you for all the awesome info! I have cut the pink wire completely out. Now I run a wire from the switch to the + of the coil correct? What do I do with the green/red wire? Also do I remove the brown wire from the solinode or just leave it? Thanks so much!!

Unfortunately I don't know what color wires go where. I'm serious, get yourself a factory service manual. You'll appreciate it.
If you've run a wire from the switched + at the ignition switch out to the coil + terminal, you're good to go there. The brown wire from the I terminal on the solenoid could stay or go. It won't affect anything either way.
What "wire going to the coil" are you talking about? You should only have the switched + from the ignition switch out to coil +, and the red and black wires from the distributor running to the coil + and - terminals, respectively. Unless you have a tach, which requires another lead.
