Default Help with Mustang value

Good morning gents,

This is my first post on site, and I'm aware that I may not be in the correct forum, and no hard feelings if needs to get moved.

I'm currently deployed to the middle-east, and am considering the purchase of a '68 fastback that I'm hoping some of you experts can help me pin a price on.
The car is for sale on consignment by Texas Classic Cars of Dallas, and we have settled on a price of 33k. They're just waiting on me to pull the trigger. I had a local inspector check the car out, and his report was very impressive. After four hours of inspection, he found a lengthy list of very small issues that he noted (most of which are being corrected by the shop). But the motor runs excellent, and he could not find a spot of rust anywhere on the car.

I'd like to hear thoughts on this price for the car, from the guys around here who are exceptionally knowledgeable on the topic. It's in excellent condition, but doesn't have much original equipment. What are you thoughts?

Thanks in advance,
Jared

Its a nice car but im not sure its 33k nice, paint job is decent, but you can see its kind of orange peely from the reflections in it, some corrosion here and there on the bottom, plus that horrible, horrible JVC head unit, that paired with a bored 302 and its pretty average. AC and 5 speed is cool though. I'd pay mid 20's for it but that just my opinion.

Are you sure that is a 9" rear? It looks squashed like an 8" and it still has drum brakes. I go with 67LimeCoupe on value.

I agree with 67LimeCoupe, too. Nice car, but in my opinion, not $33K nice.

.
you need to buy the correct foam for the front seats from american cushion indistroes . . they threw foam over the sgitty old foam so they look like a sofa.

you rubber door stops are missing from the end of the door.
the rad shroud is missing.

the distributor vacuum advance unit is wrong and it is not connected.

the dash pad is orig and warped.

all the interior paint is original and looks like crap.

shift boot is a joke.

the interior door handles are rusty.

engine compartment looks like crap.

you can not use those wheels so you need new ones that are 7" wide at the most with the proper offset.

the tires look a hair too wide and too tall.

you need to get new springs for the rear.

suspension unknown

brakes unknown

engine vibration unknown

clutch unknown.

overheating unknown.

engine miles unknown

drum brakes

manual steering.

it was hit in the front.

this is called a paint job and carpet resto . . make it look flashy on the outside, throw in a new carpet and don't restore anything else.

$25,000.00 max
.

I'd be very leary of trunk splatter paint job in the trunk, covering EVERYTHING. So, what are they trying to cover?

I just noticed the mismatched spark plug wires and the air cleaner is on backwards which I am guess is because there is not enough distributor clearance if it is put on correctly.
