Crossmember welded on?
I went to change the oil pan gasket yesterday and noticed that on one side of the crossmember, the bolt was broken off inside the hold and then welded on. How can I fix this? HELP
And i was putting the otherside back on and I guess I stripped the bolt cause it won't tighten all the way now.

Wow, don't even know where to start with this one. Never heard of anyone welding the crossmember bolts, that's a new one for me. First thing you have to do is get it off. Don't know if you have air tools, if not, go to harbor freight and pick up a 4" grinder, and cutting disc's, and start by cutting the welds to remove the brace. Don't bother to try to save anything. You can always say heck with that brace and pick up another one from a number of places, or used from a swap meet, should be cheap. The good news, all the work can be done with the front of the car on jack stands. The bolts will need to be drilled and removed. There's a couple of ways to put in new thread once everything is removed, but that's ease compared to what you have to do now. You can use an expansion nut, or grind out the existing bolt and threads and weld in a nut recessed to the subframe. Regardless, you're gonna need some tools for this one.

I spotted a crossmember that has a jack pad built into it. I thought that was something I'd like to go to in the future,,, just a thought for you.
What a pain in the rear - just deal with it a step at a time. Remember that these cars always have something wrong with them and it gives us something to tinker with.
