I just thought of something that could be causing the problems but wanted to check and see if it is an issue. When i installed the timing chain i made sure to line up the marks on the cam and the crank so the dots are inline. What i did not double check is that the crank was on TDC on the compression stroke, just that it was TDC. Is it possible that i installed it on overlap and that is causing the issues? Would the engine still run like that, but just be very underpowered? Is there a way to check this without taking off the timing cover?

Thanks,

Tim

you can not install it 180 degrees off . . if the timing marks were both lined up with the mark on the bottom gear at the top and the mark on the top gear at the bottom, then the way it runs is the way it is supposed to run.

it might be best if you take it to a mustang shop and have them drive it so they can tell you if its running properly or not, because unfortunately, there is no way we can tell you that from behind a computer.
