I used locking nuts which gave me some troubles. Switched those out and had no problems!

If I want to change this to manual steering is it ok to remove the power steering cylinder?

I see refurbished factory power steering setups going for upwards of 5 or 600 on Ebay. If it wouldn't take too much to bring yours back up to par you might stand to make a few bucks.

if you aren't going to correct/stock look into the servo style power steering we use on the racecars. uses a small pump from a cavalier (I think), remote tank and an aluminum bracket. Speedway, jegs, summit all carry them for about $300 you'll have all new stuff.

You will need 70' tie rod ends and wheel bearings. The 70's tie rods are a few thousands bigger in diameter along with the spindle where the bearings ride. 69" tie rod ends will not fit into the steering arm. 69' bearing will not fit the spindle.
