Default widest rear tire ?

I will be changing my tires and wheels.
I will be going to a Cragar S/S 15x8 in the rears. What is the widest tire that will fit with no clearance problems ? Will a 255/60R15 fit in the rear okay ?

I currently have 245/40R19 under the rears. But they will rub sometimes.

Take a lot measurements to get the proper back spacing on the new wheels. You might have more room towards the leaf springs and the bumper tab can be bent up.

I bent up the tab when I installed the 245/45R19 tires and wheels

Mod the fender for the outside of the tires? Where is the rub happening?

Just a little to wide. I have rolled the lips, but it is still to close. The fronts are just too close for comfort for me. It does look amazing. But I want something closer to what I had on my old 67. It had G50-15s on it in the back...

Did you check dodgestangs sticky at the top here?
I think you might have found the max.
I have 285s now but could probably squeeze 295s on my 69.

Well I have my Cragar S/S rims and tires ordered.
Going with 7" in front and 8" in rear.
Tires will be 245/60R15 Goodrich radial TA in rear
Front tires will be 215/60R15 or 215/65R15 Goodrich radial TA depending on if they have the 60 series in stock.
Will post photos after I get them on. Plan on putting my Thumper cam in this coming weekend, already have the electric vacuum pump and canister installed.
