Default Slip Yoke Questions

I am in the process of a V8 conversion to my 66 mustang coupe. The rear differential has been replaced with a 8in V8 differential. The car has a 6cyl with a beefed up C4 transmission. The question I have is, the slip yoke is the shorter 28 spline 5 29/32 type. The drive shaft is for a V8, but the shop that rebuilt it replaced the longer 8 3/32 slip yoke with the shorter 5 29/32 slip yoke.

Will this work correctly or should the shop replace with the longer style that was on there before?

Keep in mind I am taking the sellers word that it was right when he sold it to me before it was rebuilt. In other words, I'm not exactly sure what was right from the get go. Why is there a 2 inch difference in the slip yoke length to begin with in the first place?
