Default Best rocker arms

I have a 302 from my 1970 Mustang that I bought an edelbrock top end kit for. The kit included heads, camshaft, lifters, intake manifold and timing chain and gear. I also bought a 500cfm carb from edelbrock. The motor had been sitting for awhile so it is at the machine shop right now where it will gone through. I'm going back with forged pistons and having the crank balanced. The camshaft is a Hydraulic flat tappet cam with an operating range from idle to 5500RPM. The motor will be bolted up to a C4 transmission. I would like to hear from y'all what you think would be the best rocker arm for this application?

Depends on what fits your budget. A set of roller-tip rockers would be perfectly fine, IMO. You can throw a set of full-roller rockers on, but you won't really see any benefit, and the extra money could go towards a roller cam conversion which you would notice.

Any of the major brands that cost over 200 should be fine, it's not a race engine.

I use Harland Sharp on my race engines. I've also used Crane and Comp Cams. I had a set of Summit branded ones an a street car(better heads, mild cam, intake, carb) and racked up thousands of miles on them with no issues.

Thanks for the replies. I hadn't bought rocker arms for quite awhile and just saw a lot of different options that were available. Thanks for narrowing the field.

throw that carb in the trash . it is also too small.

need t know exactly what kit and what cam and rear gear ratio.

scorpion are the best deal on good rockers.

depending on your set up, you may get more power from 1.7's.

you need to set your quench/squish between .043" and .034" . you should run at least 9.5 compression.

Okay the package from Edelbrock came with E-Street heads with 1.900 intake valves and 1.600 exhaust valve diameter. Maximum valve lift is .550. Intake runner volume is 170cc and the exhaust runner volume is 60cc.
The kit included the Edelbrock Performer-Plus cam and lifter kit. The edelbrock number is 2122, RPM range is 0-5500. Intake valve lift with factory rocker arm ratio is .448 and exhaust is .472. Duration is 270 intake and and 280 exhaust.
The rear gear in the car is a 3.08. This is going to be a driver and will never see the track. It will be mostly highway driving with a little stop and go mixed in. I just wanted it to have a little more get up and go.
The kit recommends going with 1.6's on the rocker arms. Is there a rocker arm that I can use that will still allow me to use the stock height valve covers?
I didn't want to over carb. What size carb do you recommend?

Just roller tipped steel rockers would work for you and they are just as compact as regular style.

ok, that cam is less than optimal . i would change it . a comp xe256 or xe262 would be better . the xe262 would work better with 3.25 gears.

your compression will be slightly low if you have flat top pistons and will be really low if they are dished pistons . you probably need cometic .027" thick gaskets with a .040" bore to get the quench/squish closer to where it should be then i would also mill a little off the heads but you need to check the piston to deck height first.

you need a 600 cfm vacuum secondary carb . i would use a quick fuel.

with your gear ratio, i would use 1.6 rocker arms.
