Default gauge pod 65 shelby

can anyone tell my how the gauge pod containing the tach and oil pressure guage in the center of the dash on the early model shelbys were anchored to the dashboard. i have the pod and it has two flat spaces in the back where it looks like screws might be attached but i dont want to drill the dashboard if i dont have to....since the gauges are rather heavy i imagine some kind of silicon sealer would be needed....if anyone can help i would appreciate it.
