Default Mallory Unilite Distributor

Just bought a '67 Mustang that has a '77 302 engine.
It has a Mallory Unilite Distributor that was not connected and I have been told two different versions of how to connect it.
One is to connect the positive of the coil to the white wire that goes to the solenoid and also to the ballast.
The other is not to connect this white wire only have the positive of the coil going to the ballast.
The brown has been connected to ground.
The red to the other side of the ballast and to the ignition switch.
the green to the negative of the coil.

Then I also have been told that both ways is Ok.

Any help will be appreciated I do not want to fry the distributor.
