Check out this Tire Size Calculator I found some time ago. It works wonders when trying to decide what size tire are a possible fit. Tire Calculator
For instance, plug in the stock tire size (205/70/14) and the new size (235/45/17) and see the difference in width and circumference. Also the speed difference is at the bottom.
62_2plus2,
Do you have any photos of your wheel/tire setup. I'm thinking about a 17" wheel but I'm torn thinking it may look too big. I'm either going 16 or 17 depending on the look. If you have any could you post some photos.
One often-overlooked area here is backspacing. Backspacing can be your friend, or your enemy. For example, my 67 came with 235/45s on 17x7 rims in the front - which looked great, but rubbed the fenders ALOT. Everywhere I've seen people put this tire size on the front of 67s so I wondered what was the difference. Turns out the backspacing on my front wheels is only 4", and not the recommended 4.5 - 4.75". With the 4" backspacing, I can only fit 205/50s on front. Lesson learned here - check your backspacing first!
