VIN number location

Hello everyone.
I'm new to classic mustangs as well as this board. I'm in the process of purchasing a '68 Mustang coupe. Where do I find the VIN on this car? I've located the tag on the door that has the equipment/color codes, but could not find the VIN number on the dash. Isn't the dash the normal location for the VIN?

A 68 should have it on the passenger side on top of the dash and on the door. If it could be a 67 it won't. I don't think 67 had them on the dash.

Inner fender. Pop the hood and look on the driver's side inner fender well near the shock tower. It is also on the paperwork. Registratrion papers and such.

correct, 68 was the first year with the VIN on the dash, and the only year it was on the passenger side
