Default gas mileage in your classic mustang

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a classic mustang that isn't terrible on gas. What kind of mileage do you guys with the I6 get? How is the 289 on gas? I want a nice cruising car I can drive without having to break the bank buying gas for. I'm not too interested in it being the fastest car on the road. I just want it to look good andbe reliable. As time goes by and I get the money I'd like to fuel inject it and and get an OD tranny. I know those will help. Heck, if I get good enough mileage I might just make it mydaily driver

totally stock 289 and I'd say it's about 10mpg.

I have to fill it up every 100mi to be on the safe side(broken fuel gage). It usually takes about 8-12 gallons.

In a stock 289, sustained milage (over 1200 miles in a single trip) - 18 mpg, city driving in the same car - 12 mpg. My 'K' car get a little over 10 mpg.
