I'm looking for a classicmustang that isn't terrible on gas. What kind of mileage do you guys with the I6 get? How is the 289 on gas? I want a nice cruising car I can drive without having to break the bank buying gas for. I'm not too interested in it being the fastest car on the road. I just want it to look good andbe reliable. As time goes by and I get the money I'd like to fuel inject it and and get an OD tranny. I know those will help. Heck, if I get good enough mileage I might just make it mydaily driver

Last several tanks on my 351w, 4bbl, 3.0 rear, combo city/freeway, premium California gas (91 octane), having a little fun while driving, but nothing crazy:
11.9, 11.0, 13.4, 9.8, 9.8, 9.1, 12.2, 12.9, 13.0, 13.1, 13.9, 12.5, 10.4, 14.5
sorry waldo all classic stang are crappy on mpg, mine gets around what soaring gets compare thatto modern cars with similar HPthey are really behind for mpg. If mine was a daily driver i could not afford it to fill up is about $100 but i do live in europe fyi.
In a stock 289, sustained milage (over 1200 miles in a single trip) - 18 mpg, city driving in the same car - 12 mpg. My 'K' car get a little over 10 mpg.
